DIY Hair Tie Tutorial + Win A Set Of Hair Ties & An Etsy Gift Card!

Thrifty Family Finds' 4 Days of Giveaways Blogiversary - Day 2 Giveaway!

Thrifty Family Finds is 1 year old!  Yay!  I know that when I started TFF a year ago, I really had no idea if anyone would even read it and to see where it’s at now, I’m amazed!  I’m so grateful to all you who read my posts and interact with me through TFF.  This past year has included so many special memories for me personally – like the birth of our second, Emma, and subsequently, a little less time for me to devote to blogging.  But you were patient and stuck with me!  Thank you!

To celebrate Thrifty Family Finds’ 1 Year Blogiversary, I’m doing 4 Days of Giveaways!  These giveaways are a few of my favorite things, and I’m so excited to share them!  All of the giveaways are now live!  If you didn’t see the other three giveaways, don’t worry, you can still enter by visiting their original posts:

Candy-Free Easter Basket Ideas & $25 Amazon Gift Card Giveaway through Saturday night, March 29th.

Win A $50 Gift Card To Dear Olympia Furniture Revivals through Tuesday night, April 1st.

Easy Diaper Cake Tutorial + Win An $80 Honest Company Gift Card through Tuesday night, April 1st.

Now, onto my DIY Hair Tie Tutorial + Hair Ties & Etsy Gift Card Giveaway!

IMG_5656_watermarkA few years ago, someone gifted me a couple “Crease-less Hair Ties.”  She said they were really popular.  Sure enough, I started seeing them everywhere.  When I went to buy more, I was shocked at the price.  Most places were outrageously overpriced (in my opinion), like this set of 5 elastic hair ties for $12! Being the thrifty lady that I am, I decided to make my own.  Once I figured out that they are made from fold over elastic, the rest was easy.  So easy that I didn’t bother to take pictures of the process of making them for this tutorial.  Here’s my super short and easy tutorial plus a great giveaway!  Check it out at the end of this post!

Here’s what you’ll need for your own DIY Hair Ties:

Scissors

Your choice of Fold Over Elastic (FOE)

A lighter or matches

– Cut your Fold Over Elastic to your desired length.  I usually do between 8 – 10 inches.

– Fold in half so the two cut ends meet.

– Tie a knot.

– If you’d like to make sure the cut edges don’t fray, hold the edges up close to a the flame of a lit lighter, match or candle.  Just long enough for the edge to slightly melt.

And it’s that easy!

Congratulations to Abby F. for winning this giveaway!  I’ve sent you an email with details on claiming your prizes!  Thank you to everyone who participated!

Want to win some of your own?  For Day 2 of the 4 Days of Giveaways, I’m giving away a set of 12 hair ties (made by me) and a $25 Etsy gift card!  The winner will receive 3 of each color/pattern hair tie shipped to them within the USA and a $25 Etsy Gift Card, delivered to the email they specify.
